New CG Texture Source

Lately, we’ve been encountering a growing need for HiRes, CG ready textures. Now, with PBR rendering and HDRI lighting becoming so popular, the need for photo real textures is exploding in the 3D world. A few months back, I stumbled upon a new CG texture source for for-sale textures available on the web. Poliigon.com

There are a multitude of other texture sites that have been around for twice the time, but Poliigon stands out for one main reason: multiple pre-existing channels. Rather than downloading an image and diving into photoshop to try to create a bump/displacement map from crushing value and pushing it to greyscale or using a normal map extractor, you can download all of those that have been custom created for each texture. For your first moth, you can download 10 fully layered textures a day at up to 3K resolution. With the reasonable pricing after that, constant updates and additions, and clear desire to make life easier for 3D artists, it’s hard not to recommend them.

By just putting the correct channels into one material, and adding some GreyscaleGorilla HDRI studio to light it with Global Illumination, you and already achieve some pretty realistic results.

Check it out and start downloading some layered materials today!
